Drop Trailers

A drop trailer program increases efficiency in the supply chain and reduces dwell time.

A drop trailer is a truck trailer that is left at your location “dropped” there for a later pickup. Our driver arrives to a pre-determined spot and picks up an already loaded trailer rather than waiting for an empty trailer to be filled.

Typical places a drop trailer may benefit are warehouses, factories or even places that specialize in CPG or consumer packaged goods and fill up in a week or maybe even a day.

Drop trailers are not a new concept. Traditional understanding of a drop-and-hook program is that a trailer is dropped off and a second trailer is moved from the yard.

Technological advancements today allow for this preprogram to be completed at the dock door, which is the most efficient program for the operator and the shipper.

The carrier serves as an inventory holding area. This adds costs but in all likelihood is less than the cost and headache of hiring your own driver.
